The Kontroversy was formed in 1981 by Kevin Sanders, formerly a founding member of The Leopards, an acclaimed Kansas City band. The Kontroversy played several clubs in the KC area and released an EP on the Titan label in 1984 before disbanding in 1985. They got together in 2014 to record a new album.
